National Award Detached Outbuilding
Our client wanted a
private ADU for her frequent weekend guests. An important goal was
preserving as much of the original footprint, materials and character of
the original structure as possible. The exposed trusses were important
to her: we saved them by staining the new, replacement materials to
match the old, preserved wood. What the client had considered "wasted
space" it is now livable space that contributes to the value of the
property and can house a future caretaker or tenant. The new design
creates a strong connection and nice transition from indoors to outdoors
and her newly landscaped yard.
