The owners of this 1920’s
bungalow style home desired a new kitchen with modern conveniences that
would mesh well with the rest of the house. They also wanted more
counter space and more light. This was challenging because the floor
area was to remain the same. A recess was created in the north wall by
installing a header to allow the refrigerator to be flush with the
cabinets and counters. To give the clients the added refrigeration they
wanted, two refrigerator drawers were installed in the run of cabinets
in the peninsula at the center of the room. The combination of cherry
cabinetry, furniture-like look of the appliance panels and warm tones of
the floor, walls, and counters blend seamlessly.
