The
classic Four-Square with distinct Prairie Style details had been used
for storage, and had fallen into major disrepair. The exterior brick had
been parged over, the porch columns had been removed, and the interior
stripped. The renovation included a complete restoration of the existing
structure with a new 1800 s.f. addition, screened porch, and detached
garage. Respectful of the original layout, the new design created a
modern, open plan. On the exterior, the stuccoed brick, window patterns,
paint colors, soffit details, and new columns help to strengthen the
Prairie vernacular. To further strengthen the Prairie vernacular, the
new owners commissioned Frank Lloyd Wright inspired pedestal urns for
the front porch.
