An electrical fire and
the resulting smoke and water damage made this home nearly a total loss
by the insurance company. To make matters worse, the client had added
1,000 square feet to the home without ever increasing the insurance
limits. Budget constraints were an important consideration in the
restoration. In rebuilding the home, it became clear that the original
design was not functional and the house had suffered water problems in
the past. Since the owner’s late former husband had designed the home,
great care had to be taken when suggesting changes for the rebuilt home.
The home was completed with a more open floorplan and more usable space.
It looked better, flowed better and was made safer in the event of
another fire.
