How do you dramatically
improve a kitchen when you’re not permitted to add space, or relocate
windows? Here’s how...
The visually intrusive down draft exhaust system was replaced by a
suspended stainless steel exhaust hood. A heavy soffit was replaced with
a wood bull-nosed floating light ledge, and continuity was achieved by
the use of bull-nosed counter tops, rounded corner island cabinets, and
radiused cabinet doors at the opened end. A gentle, modestly
proportioned stepped ceiling breaks up the mass of the original flat
ceiling, and ugly air conditioning grilles were replaced by sleek linear
diffusers. In addition, 12" wide wood columns slide out to reveal pantry
storage cabinets. Roll out recycling & trash drawers are conveniently
located and they even have a roll out gift wrap bin.
The result is a functional, visually attractive, stylish, user friendly
kitchen.
