The client reached out to
us about re-doing a specialty project in their living room. Back in the
1990s, they had built a 3-tier fountain in their living room. It was
made out of brick and was designed not only for aesthetics, but also to
provide the auditory ambience in the living room. However, over the
years the brick had become worn and stained. It looked tired. On top of
that, the fountain had continual leaking problems into the level below.
The clients wanted to keep the same idea of a fountain integrated into
the living room. But, we all agreed that it would have to be redesigned
using different materials. We decided to change the original boxy shape
by adding angles on the tiers to make the fountain progressively pivot
from the top to end up at a 45◦ angle to the fireplace. Instead of using
brick, as the original had, we decided to use Carmarthen Brown quartz.
This gave the new structure a polished look as well as having the extra
benefit of being stain and wear resistant
