This contemporary cottage
in an upscale urban neighborhood suffered from unwarranted neglect. The
new owner saw the potential to increase the square footage and open the
floorplan by utilizing the existing rear porch area that was in total
disrepair. The solution was to create a two-story family room at the
rear porch area. The upstairs level was expanded by raising the existing
ridge by eight feet and increasing the front slope of the roof. The end
result is a design/build project that brings the image and scale of the
home in line with the property value.
