This is
the complete remodel of a 9,800 square-foot historic home, originally
built in 1914. From the 1960’s until 2008, the home was used as a
recreational senior day-center. The current owners purchased the home in
2009 with the intent to remodel it and return the home to single-family
use. The challenge was to keep the connection to the past while making
a comfortable living space for the future. The original blueprints and
specifications were in file at the state library, and were used as a
guide during the remodel process and in the planning for the new
addition. Repairing and reusing as much of the home as possible was
important, as was matching the original finishes and architectural
elements.
