Fun and funky, yet fully
functional!
When the owners bought this 1908 house eleven years ago, they undertook
a do-it-yourself kitchen renovation which improved what had previously
existed. But after becoming settled and deciding to remain in the house,
they knew it was time to really do it right.
A wall separating an ugly, ill used porch was removed to annex that
space to the kitchen. A small storage room off the porch received a new
glass door and was refashioned to become in interesting and efficient
pantry.
Custom cabinetry was designed to make the most of limited wall space,
and an eye-catching red color was chosen to set off the owners
collection of antique ceramics. New recessed lighting increased the
perceived size of the room, and streamlined up-lighting creates
highlights for the vintage cookie jars and antique replica houses
collected by the owners.
