This project was
undertaken for a special family, one with a special child with unique
needs, and aquatic exercise is a valuable part of this young girl’s
therapy. The yard and the pool were built on a steep slope 100 feet
above the adjoining creek. Access to the pool was very difficult. To
solve the access problems, an exterior wheel chair lift, decking around
the pool and ramps on either end of the deck were installed. The rear of
the elevator shaft is lined with a sheet of 1/4" clear polycarbonate,
which is impact resistant and capable of withstanding extreme
temperatures and ultra-violet light. This prevents the little girl’s
feet from getting caught under the upper deck when the lift is in
motion, but doesn’t block the view from behind the lift. This is a
project that is not only a beautiful enhancement to the home, but serves
a wonderful purpose at the same time. And isn’t that what makes a
perfect project.
