This was the only
bathroom in a 1922 cottage bungalow. While it had its vintage charm, it
was not fit for 21st century living for two adults with needs for
comfort, space and storage. An existing soffit over the original
clawfoot tub was removed and the room was expanded two feet into the
kitchen space allowing space for an elongated toilet, a large square
pedestal sink and a full-size shower with a shower seat. They squeezed
in a bit more storage space by constructing an exact replica of the
medicine cabinet directly across from the original, making "his and
hers" cabinets. Even though the modern conveniences are apparent, the
period-appropriate subway tile, toilet and sink, and fixtures make the
bathroom blend flawlessly with the stylistic era of this cottage
bungalow.
