The existing home is well
situated on a dominating lot with clear curb views on two sides. To
enhance the original design, the owners desired to make the home look
more like a rustic mountain getaway and to fashion the nondescript entry
system into the main focal point of the home. The home has cedar ship
lap siding and had a brick stoop and brick paver sidewalk. By installing
a new gable entry with new stone staircase and new stone veneer, the
home changed dramatically. The foyer ceiling was thereby able to be
raised a foot, to achieve a height of 10 feet. In this case, the judges
commented that this transformation should be an inspiration to the many
homeowners who live in these typical 70’s style homes.
