The clients were about to
be married, and would be moving two households into this tiny 1830s
residence. In various stages of disrepair, it had served fine as an
urban bachelor's pad, bit it wasn't going to cut it as the family home
for this new couple. The design solution, inspired by the Not-So-Big¨
house philosophy, was entirely based upon the way that the clients
really lived, not on some pretext for what a home should be. Many NSB¨
design techniques were employed to enhance the visual expansiveness of a
rather compact 1,900 square foot home.
