The client wanted an
open kitchen, in a style truer to the architecture of her 1896 home. The
new layout flows much better. There is adequate working space around the
sink, prep areas for multiple cooks, and lots of counter space around
the new range. Quartz countertops evoke period marble without
maintenance issues to worry about. A wall of subway tile enhances the
feel of a turn of the century kitchen. The house is a historical
landmark, and one of our biggest challenges was designing around
different window heights that could not be changed.
