The plan was to build a
garage with an apartment above, but the client decided that she simply
did not need the additional space; instead she wanted to integrate the
house with the terrain and proposed landscaping. The final decision was
to build a carport in conjunction with a new landscape plan for the
balance of the property. She wanted a generously roofed area for a
single car that could also serve as a transition element to the patio
when casual guests arrive for a party. The space also needed to serve as
a foul weather play area for her grandchildren.
