The scope of the project
involved remodeling the dining room to become a media/family room, the
existing family room to become the formal dining room and renovating the
contemporary foyer and living room to a more traditional theme.
The fireplace façade was demolished and rebuilt to a more traditional
design using Antique Verde green marble and plaster faux finished
mahogany surrounds. The we-bar area in the living room was replaced with
a recessed alcove to accommodate a large secretary custom made to fit
the space. The massive columns and dividing wall in the front foyer were
removed to open the space for an oversized site-built mahogany armoire,
which serves as a guest closet. An added touch of elegance was achieved
with the use of recessed panels in the barrel-vaulted ceiling in the
front foyer and an Israeli marble half-wall at the entry.
This reconfigured space is in keeping with how the family lives in their
home, and the redecorated interior reflects the warm elegance and cozy
atmosphere the owners were seeking.
