The National Willa
Cather Center is the most symbolic project that Tru-Built
Construction has completed to date. As we reflect back on the
project there are a few things that stand out.
• Being part of a
project that honors one of Nebraska’s most famous residents.
• The
excitement/pride shared by the community of Red Cloud as they
watched a significant portion of their town restored to its original
glory.
• A historical
renovation that incorporated original components from the 1886
building into the new design. The tin ceilings, doors, millwork,
brick, and hardware were to be restored but not made to look new
again. The 100+ years of character was to remain.
• It was an amazing
opportunity for the National Willa Cather Center and all involved to
have former First Lady Laura Bush as the keynote speaker for the
dedication ceremony.
