When Ada’s Technical Books and Café’s owners found the business had outgrown its space, they pulled in the architect and contractor to create a new home for the store. The aim was to preserve the character of the 1920s craftsman home, while creating an environment that customers would want to pass the hours. The team opened up the interior and expanded the rear of the building. The juxtaposition of the space’s salvaged materials with modern elements worked perfectly in the store. One Seattle publication even remarked, “This could very well be the new most beautiful bookstore in Seattle.”
