2019 Regional Winner
Outdoor Living under $75,000

The objective was to create a semi-private
front yard oasis, and to remove a large dead spruce tree. The removal of
the tree created a nice space for the patio, but also exposed a
substantial slope. A 22” natural stone retaining wall provided a
solution to the undesired slope problem, created a semi-private vertical
barrier from the street, and provided additional seating. The patio was
partially enveloped by the wall, and a vertical, organic buffer was
established to create even more privacy. Sometimes, a problem, when
redesigned, can offer the solution you’ve been searching for.
