The project was a
complete gut and renovation of a 1950’s second floor main bath with
Asian contemporary detailing to fit the existing home’s theme. A small
but deep soaking tub was installed to scale the room. Also a narrow slot
was opened at one end of the existing shower stall to allow light to
enter and create the illusion that the shower was not a complete
enclosure, but rather a space separated from the bath by column rather
than a wall. The room also features a custom Shoji Screen to create
light while maintaining privacy. The result is a very sleek, composed,
relaxing space that exceeded all of the client’s expectations for an
Asian inspired indulgence to one’s self.
