2001 Best Deck/Porch
This project included the
removal of a gabled roof over the kitchen and adding a 2nd floor deck
with access from the master bedroom.
The two requirements were to keep water out of the first floor living
space and build the deck with a railing design sketched by the owners.
After removing the gabled roof, they used Truss joists to create a roof
deck with a 1" in 12’ fall. The a 3 ply hot roof was applied to provide
a waterproof membrane for the 1st floor. To create the railing they
divided up the space and created component for each panel. They later
found out that the pattern was an eastern motif representing "well
being" ….. ONLY IN CALIFORNIA.
