2005 Best Kitchen Remodel Over
$75K
This kitchen was
spacious, but was not designed as efficiently as it could be. There was
little counter space and the traffic flow was very inconvenient. The
challenge was to make the kitchen more efficient and to allow two cooks
to work at one time. The solution to the efficiency problem was to
eliminate the peninsula and create a large 10’ island with lots of
workspace. The ovens were moved to the far right of the sink and the
microwave to the right of the refrigerator bringing them into the cook’s
work zone. The former oven wall was now freed to become an entertainment
center with a sink, ice machine, beverage center and wine storage.
Matching custom cabinet doors conceal the appliances. Maple cabinets in
a glowing painted and glazed finish called “camel” were chosen to create
the warm ambience with accents of reeded leas and beadboard.
