The
client purchased this Victorian row house in the center of the Capitol
Hill district in Washington, DC, where strict guidelines existed
governing any propose exterior modifications. The design required a
significant 3-story rear addition as well as a new 3rd floor office,
structural work, as well as major reworking of all four levels. All
windows, building systems and many surfaces were removed and replaced,
while distinctive period details were preserved where possible. The
kitchen was relocated to work in conjunction with the large, new great
room space.
