With a
rapidly growing family and a house on a tight lot, this project doubled
the size of a house while also increasing the energy efficiency. By
adding a full second floor and moving all bedrooms and laundry upstairs,
the homeowners gained a larger kitchen with a new den and separate
playroom for the kids. The house is now twice its original size, yet the
heating and cooling bills were lowered. The house is now comfortable and
healthy, and the family has the room needed to grow as well as room to
entertain.
