These
clients were quite fortunate that no lives were lost during their house
fire. Luckily, they and their three children and the family dog escaped
safely.
When
they had their wits about them, they decided that this was an
opportunity not just to rebuild, but rebuild the home to make it even
better than it was before. When asked what style they wanted, they said
“Industrial meets Cape Cod meets the Hamptons!”
The garage was expanded
with additional attic storage trusses, the old breezeway was expanded to
make room for a mudroom, laundry and walk-in pantry. A crawl-space
addition was added to increase the size of the great room and the second
level was constructed with a full-height second story over most of the
existing house, replacing the one and a half-story feel of the home.
