When new clients approached Cummings Architects for a simple shed dormer addition to their plain beach cottage, Mat Cummings looked no further than their backyard for inspiration. A magnificent S-shaped dormer, resembling an ocean wave, was constructed for a valuable addition of living space. Cummings Architects, along with Windhill Builders, were able to create a second floor master bedroom suite and reading nook without sacrificing interest. The strong use of glass and transparent finishes lets the light and movement of the ocean right in. The curved copper roof is an elegant finishing touch to this thoughtful addition, truly bringing the spirit of the ocean indoors.
