The primary request of
the owner was to add space to their existing house that allowed them to
entertain more efficiently while ensuring the addition/library kept the
existing characteristics of the house. Additionally, products were
chosen for dog-friendliness: hardwood floors that were
scratch-resistant, paint that had a low sheen, but could be cleaned
easily, and blinds in the glass that the dogs could not destroy or chew
on. Wide plank hardwood flooring was desired, and engineered hardwood
offered the right look and the added hardness, and windows and sliding
doors with blinds in the glass were selected. To maximize light on the
gable wall, a large picture window was designed, flanked by two double
hung windows and a 6' circle top installed above the picture window. The
final product greatly enhanced the ability to entertain throughout all 4
seasons and provided the husband with a home office with highly
insulated walls.
