This 50’s style house
included a boxed-in kitchen that was dark, poorly laid-out and offered
poor storage and eat-in space. The owners wanted a Mediterranean feel
and to focus on raw materials such as stone, metal and wood, without
being out of context with the balance of the house. Four closets were
deleted to open the floor plan and replaced with one, more convenient,
closet, one dry bar and three pantries. Copper plumbing fixtures,
hardware and lights were chosen to accent the granite counters and slate
style flooring. An open archway was created to provide significant
natural light for the kitchen and family room.
