After six
years in their home, the clients felt removed from the outdoors. Harsh
weather often made their de3ck and patio difficult to use. They decided
to replace the deck with a sunroom and add a farmer’s porch out back.
Natural light and ample ventilation fill the space thanks to tall Pella
casement windows with transoms above. The soffited, vaulted ceiling adds
depth, while a 12-foot wall of tandem pocket doors connect to the family
room. “When people visit,” the homeowner notes, “this is where they want
to be.”
