With four daughters about to enter their
teenage years, there was a need for more space in this elegant timber
frame home built in 1797. Most additions change a building's footprint,
but we added 1100sf by going up and creating a third floor with a fifth
bedroom, office, and two bathrooms -- all without disrupting any of this
antique home's lower levels. The airy new space blends seamlessly into
the existing home's flow and matches its elegance, too.
