This kitchen had not been
updated since the 1950’s. The homeowner’s only direction was "give me a
kitchen with personality". So they delivered a traditional kitchen with
loads of personality while working within the existing 105 square feet.
To maximize the limited space, a combination microwave/convection/hood
was installed over the range while two lazy Susans and tray dividers
were installed to assist with storage dilemmas. The used a few tricks to
create illusions of space, such as: cabinets with continuous vertical
lines which draw the eye upward and make the ceiling appear higher…the
cabinets were painted a light cream color to reflect more light…glass
front cabinets allow the eye to peer an additional 12" beyond the
cabinet door…and the stainless steel range really draws your eye into
the space. A combination of textures and finishes creates a great deal
of interest and variety, while producing a sense of balance.
