The owners of this 1963
contemporary home wanted a contractor that was not only familiar with
post and beam construction, but one that could maintain the original
integrity of the home. Cultured stone, beams, panels, glass and transoms
were woven into the new design. Due to stricter codes, the new beams
were larger than the existing. The interior maintained the full size of
the beams and the exterior tails were trimmed so as not to appear out of
balance with the existing beams. The height of the cultured stone mass
brings together the new and the old.
