A repeat client needed to solve a dilemma. They had a loft above their home office to which a custom made metal ladder provided access, however, over time, as they aged, transporting items up to the loft via the ladder became too challenging and they wanted a more permanent and safer mode of access to their loft. Space constraints left few options for a more permanent access solution. The inevitable outcome was a spiral staircase, but the challenge was to make it blend aesthetically with the contemporary design of the house. A solution was devised that was both functional and sculptural: a custom spiral staircase, proportioned appropriately, that lends architectural charm to the room, and speaks to the unique personality and style of the clients.
