The client desired an
updated kitchen and appliances, but also recognized the extremely poor
space planning and layout of the existing kitchen and adjacent spaces.
The solution involved reorganizing the first floor beyond just the
kitchen space. The dining space was not used, so part was assigned to
the living room, and part became a new cozy family gathering and TV
viewing space. The kitchen was relocated to the north with the entry
door shifting off the restricted side yard space to the rear, providing
better light and connection to the backyard and garage. Re-thinking the
basic layout and outstanding craftsmanship allowed the development of a
creative solution solving all of the client's needs in a graceful and
visually compelling manner.
