This well proportioned,
gracefully detailed portico was designed to reinvigorate the static
facade of this 1970s colonial. It provides a sheltered entry that is at
once both formal and welcoming. The arched ceiling allows the rooflines
of the portico to tie into the existing eave, while providing generous
headroom and graceful site lines to the doorway. The scale and detailing
of the portico seamlessly integrate the existing structure. The end
result is a new addition that provides a dramatic change to the exterior
while at the same time appearing original to the home.
