The original kitchen was
not adequate for the two parents, eight children, and one grandparent
living in the home. A wall between the kitchen and dining room was
removed, the remaining large room was gutted, and the kitchen was
started over completely. The one large room allowed for three working
islands, one each for cooking, baking and eating. Variations of cabinet
heights, different moulding applications, and decorative hardware add
interest, and a new lighting system and off-white cabinetry keeps the
space light and open. This multifunctional room has become the hub of
the family with room for all of them to work and play without getting in
each others way.
