Best Kitchen Facelift
This kitchen is in the middle of the house, with no windows or natural
light. Because of poor quality light fixtures and dark finishes, the
room appeared even smaller than it was. To give this kitchen a new look,
the dark and heavy ceiling beams were removed to lift the ceiling and
open the space. The cabinets were sprayed with an antique white glazing,
but the ceiling and base moldings remain in the dark stain for detail
and to tie the kitchen to the rest of the house. New silvertone hardware
further updates the cabinets, and glass was added to the cabinet doors
over the sink. Lighting was improved with recessed cans and new
under-cabinet lights. To retain the rustic country feel, the brick
backsplash was salvaged and cleaned.
