2002 Best Room Remodel

The biggest challenge was to transform a white contemporary family room into a warm Tuscan Italian space…even though the existing plan lent itself best to contemporary design. The cabinetry was only ten years old, and the clients did not want to tear out the entertainment unit and start over, so the modifications had to be more of a décor update.

They used a unique spray-coating system on the entertainment center and were able to fill the 8" hole spread from the existing handles to install rustic iron decorative handles that help set the tone of the new style. The Corian tops were replaced with granite, and a dark cherry molding was added to the tops of the cabinets to traditionalize them. The fireplace was painted in contrasting colors to make it a focal point and the walls were painted a dark green to bring down the scale of the vaulted ceiling for a more intimate feeling.
