This project followed the
latest guidelines for an energy efficient EarthCraft remodeling project.
Atlanta’s Stream Buffer zoning restrictions directed the project up
instead of out, and no new foundations were added. The EarthCraft
program recommended the technique of insulating the roof all the way to
the ridge, eliminating ridge vents and attic spaces altogether. This
freed the designer to open up the vaults and maximize the interior
spaces. 10-foot ceilings are throughout the second level. Light enters
the spaces from all directions and the tree canopy and sky can be seen
at any time from most locations in the house.
