An aging 70's
contemporary home needed a facelift in the kitchen and a better
connection with the rear yard. The kitchen layout was reoriented to
create better view and access to the rear yard, emphasizing the vaulted
ceiling and natural light. The client now has a vibrant, updated kitchen
that works well with the previous volumes and connects with the rear
yard. A new exterior "hall" adds much needed storage, laundry space,
natural light, and access to a personal office retreat. New Brazilian
cherry floors and the warm tone of the cabinets give the space the
coziness the client wanted, while the contemporary pendants and the
shape of the countertop lend to the contemporary style of the house.
