Grand scale on a limited
budget!
Sound familiar? In this case, the client was set on high end appliances,
which limited the amount that could be spent on things like European
cabinets and other interior details. They also wanted a more open
feel...but without increasing the space.
The solution was to replace one of the walls with glass block, to allow
light to pour in. Then install a shallow depth Sub-Zero regrigerator,
and use a pocket door for the pantry to make more work and walking space
available.
To remain within budget, rather than using expensive cabinets over the
sink, glass shelves were used. This was a cost effective feature that
carried on the contemporary theme and kept the kitchen from feeling
closed in. Stock cabinets were used with custom hardware, and the inset
panels of the wall cabinets were removed and replaced with frosted glass
panels.
