2004 Best Whole House Remodel

This was the conversion
of a 1950’s ranch home into a Colonial Revival, and it’s expansion to
comfortably house a family of five. The way the two side ‘sings” of the
existing floor plan were set back from the center block of the house
provided a logical design solution to add a second story to the center
portion of the original footprint. This gave them the addition space
they wanted while creating the traditional look of the one-story wings
that was common with other homes in this historic neighborhood. The
project’s biggest achievement was being able to drive down the street
and not be able to recognize the second floor addition as an addition.
