2009 Addition $100,000 - $250,000

From the first meeting with the clients, they strived for a "cottage in the woods" feel for their updated house with the efficiency and amenities of a modern home. By borrowing space from an existing bedroom and gaining additional space of the existing two-car garage, they were able to construct two large walk-in closets, a make-up station, a full bath with double vanity, dual-flush toilet and air-jet soaking tub, and separate dressing and sleeping areas. Inspired by the small Nordic homes of northern Minnesota, they added details like corbels to support the curved rake board on the exterior of the addition and designed multiple types of cladding to decompress the large scale of the home. With a series of four exterior casement windows, the bedroom is flooded with natural light and offers spectacular views of the wooded area that surrounds the home.
