The
original 1925 home was only 725 sf and cramped for a family about to
expand. The owners did not want a big house, however, and felt
strongly about smart use of space. Sustainability was also very
important. By adding a second story to the home they were able to
double the livable area of the home, provide a walk-in closet,
master bath, cozy library and spacious master suite. A bump-out from
the original kitchen creates an efficient light-filled workspace as
a foundation for a deck above. The remodeled home is warm,
comfortable, healthy, energy-efficient and fits in the neighborhood.
