Creating a deck style
that responded to the asymmetry of the home’s floor plan while being
integrated into the future plans for the yard created several
challenges. Access from the side lot had a substantial lope where they
designed and built a series of cascading platforms nestled into stone
planters. This is much better than a line of steps charging down the
hillside. The galvanized railing was designed and fabricated to help
emphasize the interplay between the straight decking and the curve of
the platform, while blending in with the pre-manufactured staircase.
