The context for this whole house renovation is the 25th floor of a
1980’s building full of small condominiums. Unfortunately, this 660
square foot penthouse condo lacked everything a person might expect from
the top floor. It lacked size, character and interest. The client
desired to maximize functionality, create additional storage from unused
vertical space, and bring it all together with a unified design and
sense of style.
The consistent application of materials throughout the condo, along with
creative cabinet options, helped optimize functionality while providing
an inviting atmosphere. All the vertical space above the existing
closets was used for additional storage, transforming simple rod and
shelf closets into custom designed cabinetry. The cabinetry design, with
its long vertical handles, helps pull your eyes up to imply a sense of
increased volume.
