The
bath in this mid-forty’s home needed remodeling and space was at a
premium. Set back issues only allowed for a “bay” in order to gain
interior space. The entrance to the bath was repositioned and the closet
reconfigured into two opposing closets which created a dressing area
between the bath and bedroom. This reassignment of space allowed for a
subtle expansion within the bath creating a generous shower area
adjacent to a spa tub situated within the new bay.
The
toilet is located behind a fixed, reeded glass panel which provides
privacy and light penetration where there was no room for a privacy
stall. Matching reeded glass was used to create privacy in the shower
window and in the lower panels of the bay windows at the tub area.
Custom
cabinetry allowed for clever storage concepts and for dual vanities to
fit into a tight space. A marble slab at the vanity adds an element of
elegance while the tub deck of linen finish porcelain tile and a silver
metallic liner make for a sleek mixture of old and new.
