While
the original house had some sense of character, the design objective was
to delete what was bad and build upon what was good.
An old art studio was converted to a guest suite, adding a bathroom. The
kitchen was opened to the dining and living areas and redesigned in a
clean bungalow style. The master bedroom was expanded into the rear yard
and larger, more luxurious, master bath was created.
At the rear of the home a new roofline was created, taking its cue from
the existing gable on the front of the home. The rear façade undulates,
creating a series of expansive decks and patios between them, with
French door sets opening onto them.
The interior employs green materials and finishes as well as all custom
cabinetry, quartz countertops and natural stone.
