The
owner of this property wanted to add some delineated spaces for
entertaining. They requested an outdoor family room with a fireplace and
room for dining. They also wanted separate guest quarters with a
bathroom that had some type of relationship with the new space. In
addition, they wanted to highlight the new pool by providing a raised
sun deck and seating area.
For
the outdoor family/dining room we set out to create a series of rooms
without any walls. The stucco columns were widened to add girth to the
structure, providing a look of substance to insinuate a wall. The arched
openings resemble a detail you would see inside a home. In this case
they diving the living spaces from the natural spaces. The pool and
surrounding patios were designed to naturally terrace the sloping earth.
Decorative gas fire accent features add hierarchy to the Jacuzzi spa,
which is centered on the overall width of the pool. The transformation
was incredible and the space is 100% useable and family friendly.
